Behind a BIG COMPANY there is a BIG FAMILY

The history of Indcresa is the history of a family of entrepreneurs devoted, generation after generation, to the development of the cocoa industry with highly demanding and constantly evolving quality standards.

Initially, its activity was summarised as “The select production of fresh and salted margarines for table, confectionery and biscuit factory use”, which later evolved into the exciting world of cocoa, the manufacture of cocoa paste, cocoa butter and cocoa powder. Indcresa currently specialises in the manufacture, development and innovation of cocoa powder, using state-of-the-art facilities and with a production capacity of more than 60,000 tonnes per year.

At the end of 2022, we opened a new cocoa-pressing factory with the latest technology, thereby increasing our range of cocoa products.

Indcresa is a family-owned company specialising in the manufacture of cocoa powder since 1915. Our origins date back to the beginning of the last century in the city of Barcelona.

Birth of Industrias Crehuet as a cocoa processor and margarine manufacturer
Mr Enrique Crehuet Roig, 22 years old, built the first factory and Industrias Crehuet was created as a manufacturer of margarine and a cocoa processor.
Specialising in cocoa
After the death of Indcresa's founder, his son, Manuel Crehuet, decided to make a strategic change and focus the whole business on cocoa just as its consumption began to increase in Spain.
Expanding our cocoa powder production capacity
Indcresa increases its cocoa powder production capacity to supply the growing market demand. A successful soluble cocoa product boosts consumption in Spain.
Opening of a new exclusive cocoa powder factory
The continuous increase in sales leads Indcresa to undertake an innovative project. The first factory in the world exclusively specialising in the production of cocoa powder is built, with an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes/year.
Construction of a new factory with more than three times the capacity: From Spain to the world
Growth and international expansion are at the heart of a very important new project: highly modern installations for the production of Cocoa Powder with a capacity of more than 50,000 tonnes per year.
Installation and opening of the pilot plant
The pilot plant mirrors the production process of cocoa powder on a small scale. This allows us greater flexibility and adaptability both in optimising and developing internal processes and innovating products according to our clients’ needs.
Certification ISO9001:2000
Certification of the quality management system for the transformation, processing and development of cocoa powder based on the ISO9001:2000 standard.
Installation of a new state-of-the-art reactor and BRC certification
In pursuit of innovation, we install a state-of-the-art reactor. We also obtained the BRC certificate, which guarantees the food safety of processed products.

We expand our range of cocoa powders
We incorporate the red and black special cocoa powder varieties. Thanks to the development of alkalisation processes based on our know-how, we start to develop a wider range of red and black cocoa powders.
Investment in a new alkalising and bagging line to optimise processes
We continue to expand our capabilities in the manufacture of new types of alkalised and special cocoa powders and we install a new alkalising line allowing the development of new darker, red and black varieties.
100 years of history
Over the years, we have come to understand the importance of following a business model based on effort and quality work. Enthusiasm, care and respect for people along with an in-depth knowledge of cocoa and the market have been key to our history and growth.
Beginning of the construction of the new factory
After intensive work, we undertook a new strategy of returning to our roots. The plan is to design a complete factory to process part of our produce and continue specialising in cocoa powder. From the beginning, we will also incorporate Cocoa Butter into our product portfolio.
The new factory is a reality
We have opened this factory with the latest cocoa-processing technology. In total, we have 55,000 m2 at our disposal in the industrial area of Barcelona to manufacture the best cocoa products. These new facilities with great potential for growth allow us to offer cocoa butter and paste, as well as increase our range of cocoa powders.
